Homeopathic Remedies
Homeopathic remedies can be made from anything with power to affect the human body. They are made from plants, animals, micro-organisms of all kinds, diseased tissue, naturally occurring minerals, chemicals and radiations. A homeopathic remedy’s usefulness, its sphere of action, is found by giving it to healthy people in certain forms and doses in such a way that it will bring about physical and mental changes – changes that are characteristic of that particular remedy.
Those symptoms it creates in healthy people it can remove from genuinely sick people showing very similar symptoms when given in appropriate dosage and form. Naturally enough the remedies tested have been mainly derived from things already known for their medicinal power , or their power to affect healthy people. Herbs known since antiquity have been tested by the homeopathic method, known as proving, and their genuine properties determined. Fact can be sifted from folklore by this method, and the herb’s virtues found precisely. No other way of assessing possibly medicinal material offers such precision.
Homeopathic remedies work principally by stimulating and regulating the body’s own defense and homeostatic systems. They cannot work when a gland or organ ( such as the pancreas) is so defective as to be unable to respond to stimulation. They cannot supply an element essential to proper nutrition if it is missing from the patient’s diet. They can, however, improve the general level of health to such a degree and in such a way that the need for vitamins and minerals etc, is minimized.
The remedies are outstandingly safe. Substances that are violent poisons in their crude forms, when properly made into a potentised remedy by serial dilution, and harmless and helpful remedies in the hands of Homeopathy. Arsenic, snake venom, tuberculosis bacteria and hemlock are all raw materials for homeopathic remedies, but because they are specially prepared they are no longer dangerous.
It is impossible to be poisoned by homeopathic remedies, to become addicted to them, allergic to them, or to develop dangerous side-effects from them. They are very cheap and comparatively easily made. We believe that homeopathic remedies, properly used, constitute the best and most effective form of treatment available, and no advance in medicine will ever make them obsolete.
